Brilliant price, nifty little gadget. Would definitely recommend :-)

I bought this product as I am a keen swimmer and was fed up of thinking to myself when swimming and loosing motivation as it was to damn quiet! So hence the reason for purchase.
So lets start on the positives. The Aquabeat in pink is a really funky colour. Love it! The design is neat and compact, really simple to work and basic, ideal for everyone to use. It will not work if the headphones are not attached and it takes some force in the water if you were to knock the jack out! As for the headphones provided, you get different size buds to suit all ears and they are comfortable to wear. As for the quality of the music, when out of water, it is superb. Obviously the louder you have it, the more likely your battery is to run out sooner. Whilst in the water, the music is very clear. I have had no problems with the buds, music or any "swishing" sounds when in the water. Installation was very easy, just stick it in the PC via USB and it charges and you can transfer music easily onto the player. Ives also been able to charge it via a USB wall plug. Battery life if reliable. I have played mine for about 15 hours at near top volume. The LED on the front of the player is a good indication to when its charging/playing/reduced battery life. It is bright tiny light. The gadget fits tightly on my googles and on my swimwear.
The only problem I have encountered with the Aquabeat is after the first initial charge, I had to reset it. I knew how to do it, like i said you dont really need an instruction guide to work this gadget. Just had to reset it a couple of times intially but I have had no further problems.
I would recommend this gadget to anyone who wants to make the swim a bit more motivating and to keep the boredom at bay if you're struggling a bit!

Good for the beach/quick dip. No good for a fast crawl.
I went and got it from the sorting office, and I was impressed with the general appearance and build quality. The previous owner hadn't deleted the songs, so I jumped on the bus and switched it on. On-and-off is easy. Standing on the bus, the quality was a little poor. Even at it's loudest, it was too quiet, and there was very little base.
So, I got to the pool. Jumped in, and after about 2 minutes of getting the headphones in, the unit fixed to the strap of my goggles, and my goggles on, I set off for a length of breaststroke. Submerged, the sound quality really comes through. You can hear the base clearly, and all is good. Then, coming up out of the water, it goes back to being tinny again. But they stayed in, held in place by my goggle straps. So, I turned and came back doing crawl.
Crawl is where they pretty much fail. You can just about tell what song is on, but you cant really get into it. I was distracted from the boredom of silence, but not feeling fully motivated by the beat.
About 30 mins later, I moved to the jacuzzi. This is where it was more use. Still tinny, but nice to have some choons in the hot-tub. And priceless to see peoples faces when you drop your mp3 player in the water!
Also, fun to have in the shower. I'll be taking it with me each time I swim, and I expect I'll be able to swim further before getting demotivated/bored. I'll be taking it on my beach holiday next month.
In summary, it's like swimming shorts compared to a Speedo: Ideal for general wet use, great for the beach, relaxing in the sun, hot-tub, etc. Kinda lacking if you want to swim fast energetic laps of front crawl as fast as you can.

great player rubbish headphones
This is a great mp3 player which is totally waterproof & just the thing to listen to while doing lengths. It's easy to use with wet fingers & my partner liked mine so much I got him one. The only reason it's not a 5 star plus review is the speedo headset - I don't know whose ears they are designed for but no-one we know can wear them comfortably. Fortunatley you can get waterproof earphones from Mike's diving on Ebay you need to wear a hat or headband to keep them in but they're brilliantly comfortable & you can swim away in your own cocoon of music without thinking about your ears.

SPEEDO AQUABEAT - WATERPROOF MP3 PLAYER
I love this player. I swim about 3 times a week and can now listen to music whilst swimming to beat the monotony.
It is light weight, easy to use and holds up to 500 tunes.
I would recommend this product to any keen swimmers. Could also be used in the bath.

throw away the ear phones and get new ones
| No, I wouldn't recommend this product.
I have no problems with the overall quality, The Mp3 player seams solid and well made. It loads tracks easily and quickly, but the earphones are awfull. Very very quiet, tricky to get on and impossible to keep on. The position of the buttons makes them easy to press by mistake just taking the unit on and off. I frequently lose my place in my audio book.
I have new earphones now that don't hook over the ear. Much better, but the volume is always set on full, it's the only way to hear anything.
