Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphic Calculator

I needed a graphing calculator for my statistics Open University course. This is a nice big sturdy one with a well defined key board and a easy to see screen; definitely not pocket-sized! My choice was also decided by the fact that there is at least 2 books dedicated to helping you make the most of your calculator - "Tapping into Mathematics with TI-83 Plus", and "TI-83 Plus for Dummies" (may have got the titles slightly wrong). These I have been working through before the start of my course and are of a great help. It is also supported by an on-line guidebook which can be downloaded for free. So far I have been very happy with my choice, and am looking forward to my studies in 2009.

Being a student, cost is very important, especially where academics are concerned. The TI-83 is a very powerful calculator, and is required for A2 and AS level mathematics in the UK if you want to make life easier for yourself.

These calculators retail for £85.99. Luckily, I found an auction ending on the day that my exams begin, and the eBayer was extremely helpful. The item was despatched the same morning, and arrived the very next day with savings of over £40.00.

make sure you learn how to use all of its functions, when you do, youll wonder how you managed without one. It is daunting at first, but when you get to know its inner power, you will be amazed at what you can do and so much quicker than a normal calculator.

NOTE: CAN BE USED ON ALL AS AND A2 EXAMS!!!!!

This calculator has too many built in programs to list here. Luckily it comes with its own instruction novel to explain in detail all its capabilities.

It should be noted that the machine itself is extremely durable. I have dropped mine (or thrown it across the room in a fit of math-induced frustration) innumerable times, and it's still going strong. I have had it two years, and it barely has a scratch. During that time, I have changed the batteries once. And the outer cases now come in a variety of rainbow colors. That's just nifty

Great calculator for A-level Maths! I've found this calculator a big help throughout the course! And what's great, it can be used in the exam.

You can do so many things including:
1) sketching graphs (linear, quadratic, trigonometrical, etc) to find maximum points, minimum points, intersections, etc
2) sketching modulus graphs
3) sketching and solving inequalities
4) finding itegrals for any value
5) finding differentials for any value
And much much more!
