Description
Author BiographyJohn Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on the 3rd January, 1892 at Bloemfontein in the Orange Free State, but at the age of four he and his brother were taken back to England by their mother. After his father's death the family moved to Sarehole, on the south-eastern edge of Birmingham. Tolkien spent a happy childhood in the countryside and his sensibility to the rural landscape can clearly be seen in his writing and his pictures.

I bought this for nostalgia really. I used to have the cassette version when I was a younger but unfortunately the tape snapped. I have been looking for a while to find the right reader as so many different ones have been done. I really enjoyed this reading by Martin Shaw and would definitely recommend it. The characters are well done and his voice doesn't annoy or get boring. I can now finally listen to it during my down time i.e. in the car :)
