TomTom Start 20 Black - United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland Automotive GPS Receiver

I recently decided to get my first Sat Nav and after reading several different opinions online on the products currently available, I chose this one and am very happy that I did. Not knowing what to expect I was pleasantly surprised that when it arrived I just had to plug it into the car lighter socket and it was ready to use, no need to connect to a computer to upload anything. It comes with a lead that has a usb connection that plugs into a connector for the car, which means you only have 1 lead to look after. Once it is on, the touch screen images are bright and clear. Each additional page has the same quality of image. To navigate the pages you just touch each symbol/section and enter any information required, either a postcode or place/street name. The road view can be 2D or 3D, the road/junctions are very clear and the voice (which can be changed)is clear and works together with the screen to show you/tell you where you need to be in the near future, you can change the colour of the road, the symbol that represents you on the road can be changed and the daytime/night time brightness automatically changes. It is light weight. The only problem I have had is that at the back you have to turn a locking disc to secure it to the windscreen and if like me you put it on the righthand side of the screen then it can be a bit awkward to tighten the disk, but everything else about it makes up for it. As never having had a previous Sat Nav to compare it to, I cannot comment on it with regards to other products also available on the market, what I can do however is mention that a friend of mine who owns a different make of one was extremely jealous of mine! She said it was simpler to use, the screen was a great size and very clear and being able to change the voice to an Australian was a 'fun' aspect.

This is easy to set up, easy to use and was a very good price. The screen is easy to read, the directions are clear and the addition of street names is very useful. I bought this as a replacement for my old trusty Tom Tom One which lasted many years before breaking and I hope this will last as long!

The holder is easier to use than the old one and the screen is bigger, the only thing I don't like is having to switch between alpha and numeric screens to put in a post code, previously both were on the same screen, but that is a small gripe.

this works straight from the box touch screen i wanted a straight forward sat nav and this is it i went to my tom tom.com and got £8 off my next purchase not bad!

I love my TomTom... only down side is it was not in fact refurbished it was old stock so the map was already 18 months old when I bought it.... :(

Great unit, loving the voice on street names, just wish it had a headphone socket but i had to fit one myself for my motorbike comms.
