No need to spend even £100 if you shop around for this very capable GPS. I'm a taxi driver and use my SatNav all the time; I've had TT v3 and then TT v5 on Pocket PC and a TT One 1-piece GPS. Once you get used to the menus (and it's not hard - just a bit of practice and experimenting) planning a route is easy and the directions can be heard clearly with plenty of time to follow them safely without staring at the screen - so DON'T!).
I've used this XL Live IQ for a few days now and it's a worthwhile upgrade for my well-used almost worn-out TT One - the bigger screen makes things easier to see, the lane guidance screen is good and clear when you're travelling fast down a motorway and need to choose the correct lane. The 'Live' thingy? Well keep your car radio on 'cos road conditions can change fast. Only time will tell how quickly it reacts to 'changing road conditions' and 'incidents'. Will you really be able to avoid 'any' delay by re-routing? It's a clever device not a miracle machine!
The maps and camera things are never 100% perfect but, straight out the box it's very good even for a 'professional' user like myself. It's very good not perfect but neither am I (so I'm told). Does the job and very good value - like the gizmo here! You'll get some updates 'free' by connecting to TT online.
Previous experience: TT's paid-for update subscriptions are poor value, expensive and inaccurate - there are other much cheaper, much more accurate websites for camera/POI updates - ask or search around - I wont plug PocketGPSWorld here!
TomTom's maps are seemingly always a few years behind as are all road atlases and other GPS's.
I would ideally like to be able to 'customise' the display a bit more, perhaps move things around or resize them but it's clear enough as supplied and has all the info you need.
Connecting it to TT's website, it tells me a newer version of the map is available at £40 per year etc but the blurb in the box says 'Latest Map Guarantee' so they will be dealing with me on their live support webchat later today.
They can't refuse can they? I'm sure they wont.....(but, knowing TomTom they might just try!!!)

This device was purchased as a replacement for my Tom Tom One Go.
I have used this device five times thus far, the only issues is the time it takes to load a route, and the windscreen bracket it uses and the USB.
The most serious issue is the bracket, for older users with Arthitis may have difficulty securing it to the wind screen, the same can be said of the USB socket. It did not come with a case, that was a seperate purchase(unlike my first Tom Tom.
I like the way it is the same as a Tom Tom One in setup and user function navigation. No real learning curve.
Compared to my previous Tom Tom, the screen is better..wider, its slimmer and as per the screen shot intelligent lane guides(UK ooly not in Spain).
On the whole I am happy with TomTom

Updated to this from a PDA based Tom Tom Navigator. Good quality screen. Clear instructions. Dozens of POI's can be added from website along with latest map version.
Found the Live traffic information very fast to aquire and updates frequently. So far has proven extremely accurate and usefull. Far more extensive, up to date, and usefull than the RDS based traffic info.
No bluetooth capability and no audio/aux output. Can not use as handsfree kit or link to audio system. You have to have seperate handsfree and turn your music down to hear the instructions. Finding the new style mount fiddly.
Quality mapping and route finding. Still the best system around.
Update - been using this for over a year now. Got a 50% discount from Tom Tom for continuing the map update subscription. Still very happy with it as a sat nav: fast, accurate and not suggested anything silly lke the excuses you hear for driving in to canals etc! Gotten used to th new style mount. You need to be sure thee is a positive click of it going in to place. If you are in no hurry and fancy the scenic route, choose the 'avoid motorways' or 'shortest' route options. Had some great summer motoring down minor roads.
The only minor problem was the cigarette lighter socket on the lead broke - replaced for a couple of quid from ebay.
Would still recommened as the best all round sat nav.

upgrading from an earlier tomtom was strange due to the total redesign of the menus. once you get your head round the new setup this product is by far the best yet. the live services are great. unless you drive an lpg vehicle the petrol prices is a great feature (LPG users beware the garages listed are 60% wrong and do not carry lpg) once they sort this problem its an excellent unit.
