Ulysses 31 and his journey through the Kingdom of Gods
I used to rush home every week back in the 1980s to see this when it was on TV. Having seen it come out on DVD about 2 years ago here in the UK, I bought the box set. Expecting it to be like Battle of the Planets i.e. loads of the same animation frames stuck together and repeated every episode, I watched it with an open mind. And WOW! I was not disappointed in the least. The animation is still as good as I remember it and the stories just as far out. Uylsses, Telemicus, No-No (the red little robot) and Umi are a brilliant team that battle through the Kingdom of the Old Gods of Olympus, using their wit, skills and honesty as weapons to fight back from the deception of the Gods and their peoples. Looking for a way to restore their crew's life and find a way back from Olympus, they journey through the most amazing of places and meet some of the most strange Gods and their servants. Highly recommended if you have never seen it, and if you have... You still will not be disappointed.
ULSSES 31 Complete DVD BOX SET
I watched this originally back in the 1990's on the TV and did get to see it all. When I saw this on eBAY I couldn't resist it. Having watched it all the way through, I found it to be still as entertaining as it was 20 years ago.
Based on the epic saga of Ulysses's trek back home after the fall of Troy, this tale is given the Futuististic Space Adventure twist in the tale. An excellent animated version of a well known Greek Legend and well worth the time spent watching it.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CLASSIC
Firstly about the box set - basically 3 DVD's in a card board sleeve so nothing so special there but still worth buying. Contains all 26 original Episodes - running time 627 Mins!! So plenty to keep you entertained. The DVDs are easy to navigate so you can watch one episode at a time easily. Only annoying thing is the Jetix adverts (who releases the set). If you remember it buy the set - well worth the money.

ulysses 31 complete series
the reason that i got this was that as a kid i used to watch it all the time and now would probably be classed as a "retro" kids program.
it can appeal to people of any age and especially younger children.
it is based strongly on greek mythology but set in the 31st century complete with spaceships, robots and aliens.
my only dislike about it is that it has no special features "oh well can't have everything i guess"
never the less i would strongly recomend ulsses 31 to anyone interested in retro anime.

I love the fact that this was the greatest cartoon ever when I was only 7 or 8 years old.. Now in my 30s :) I have never seen it since and missed the hold that it had over me. Since winning the bid and receiving the set I am so happy to have these toons back in my life. I have put them on my DVD shelf and am very happy all round was great watching the episodes whilst waiting for my christmas dinner :)
