Various Artists - Old Grey Whistle Test 40th Anniversary (Parental Advisory, 2011)

I have had an Old Grey Whistle Test LP since I was a young kid in the seventies. I have loved it and played it to death over the years.
I can't remember what I was looking for on ebay but I stumbled across this three disc Anniversary Edition, and upon reading the track list, it turns out to be almost identical to my vinyl copy with a fair few extra songs thrown in. I didn't hesitate to buy it.
It arrived two days later and I put it straight on and was instantly transported back to a little girl listening to tapes in the back of my dad's car, to being a moody teenager playing my album too loud in my bedroom and all the other memories that this music evokes, from all the years I played my now scratched to hell LP.
As I played it, I thought that my Mam and my brother would probably love this too. But, instead of making them copies, I bought it again because this is one of them cd's that you just NEED to have an original copy of.
The packaging is like a miniature fold out LP. Printed to look like an old worn album sleeve and it very nearly gave that excited feeling of times gone by when getting a shiny new piece of vinly was the best feeling ever. But even better than that is the fact I can play it in my car, turn it up as loud as I want and sing along to my hearts content.

fond memories of watching him trying to make out what on earth he was watching - long hair - loud sounds - and very strange people ! those were the days my friends - cheers
