Description
A young album-painter learns a lesson about daring to dream when he is kissed by a magical muse. Throwing caution to the wind, he partners up with a wealthy former jazz musician to start-up a roller disco nightclub, but finds that one of his dreams might be too lofty--even for the powers that be. XANADU is a 1980s fantasy that meets a 1940s Hollywood heyday musical featuring the musical talents of Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, with the Electric Light Orchestra, the Tubes, and Cliff Richard, plus a touch of cartoon magic from animator Don Bluth.

Xanadu magic

I saw this film in 1980 on its release and was delighted to see it was available on DVD. I had childhood memories of its kitsch wonderfulness but would I feel the same 28 years later? I was not disapointed, I know Xanadu is undergoing a critical revisitation at the moment but it probably needed 20 odd years to pass for people to truly appreciate it. Apart from a bonkers storyline - rollerskating deities! and a fabulous soundtrack there are some pretty extravagant and amazing dance numbers that hark back to the Busby Berkeley school of film making, Gene Kelly and ONJ are fabulous together. Its a feast for the eyes and ears and I hope the disapointment of those involved has been erased by the recent cult success the movie has enjoyed. Highly highly recommended

Xanadu is a musical which reminds me of the cheesy 80's music which i love.

I thinks it one of them films everyone should see, just to say they ve seen it

Its just worth watching to see oliva newton john in rolling boots.

So if you like big hair, clothes you would never wear again and cheesy 80's music then see Xanadu
