Second hand CPU
Created: 08/01/09
As with all things second hand, you never know if it will be any good. Unfortunately the same applies to new goods as well.
The logic behind my purchase was that if the part came from a PC dismantling firm and was taken from a known working PC then there can't be much wrong with it.
When it arrived I installed it into the PC and ran a series of free benchmark and stress tests on it to make sure it would run without fault at normal to high temperatures, which it did. The CPU is a fairly old model and it can only do what it was designed to do and it does it very well.
With all that aside there is not really much to tell.
I would though always advise anyone buying PC components to thoroughly test to the best of their capabilities whatever they purchase. There are a lot of freeware and GPL products available online that will test CPUs and other components, it's just a matter of looking for them, reading the instructions and using them.

CPU flies Jetway at altitude

What needs to be written about these 'legacy' Amd CPU has been
written. They do what they do as well as can be expected. On a good
NF2 motherboard this one does 2.45 Ghz as stable as the Pyramids.
If the board had another .1 of CPU voltage it would do 2.5 Ghz easily.

Why this CPU
Created: 13/10/10
The reason I purchased this item is because I had an ex-collage computer that had a burnt out CPU and the CPU on sale was perfect for the computer because it met the motherboard specs plus it was compatible with Win 7. This CPU is now installed in the computer and it is running great so it’s a great product.

Not the quickest for AGP flavour gaming but decent

Cheap as chips and stable at 266MHz bus speed but a severe gaming bottleneck, not terribly energy efficient and gets rather toasty thanks to the Thoroughbred core! Get an XP-M instead if your motherboard supports unlocked multipliers (NForce 2 etc) :D
