Album Notes
Dire Straits: Mark Knopfler (vocals, guitar); Hal Lindes (guitar); Guy Fletcher, Alan Clark (keyboards); John Illsley (bass); Terry Williams (drums).Additional personnel: Sting (vocals).Recorded at Air Studios, Monserrat, West Indies. All tracks have been digitally remastered.BROTHERS IN ARMS found Dire Straits at the peak of a long climb in the music industry. After an auspicious debut with DIRE STRAITS, they stuggled on through personnel changes and shifting musical tastes. Knopfler's work with Bob Dylan (SLOW TRAIN COMING and some touring) and the band's appearance at Live Aid helped to keep their recognition high. This album proved to be the payoff, as "Money For Nothing" hit number 1, and the second single, "Walk Of Life" also made the top-10.

Must have CD

Created: 11/07/09
One of the best albums produced in music history. Must have classic for any music lover. I have the 1985 original version as I think is the best but probably the remastered one is equally great.
I love everything about this album from music to lyrics, espacially that the lyrics are included in the front cover. This Dire Straits album is also appreciated by younger generation as it did not age in any way.

Outstanding

Dire Straits' best known album and the biggest seller of all time in the UK around 20 years ago. This was probably their definitive statement, it certainly saw the group at their commercial peak.

Classic Rock at It's best

Created: 13/02/11
This really is one of the classic must have albums. Mark Knofler has always written some brilliant haunting songs and these rate with the best. From the more well known songs from the MTV era to the title track itself, there is a magical mixture of beautiful ballads and fast paced rock.
If you don't have it still, make it your next purchase.
