The Goonies (DVD 2004)

I decided to buy this DVD as I cought the end of it on TV a few days ago & wished id watched it all as I remembered how much I loved it as a kid & wanted to watch it with my family!! It can be picked up really cheaply, I paid less than £3 for a brand new copy inc post!!! I was surprised the rating was a 12 as i can remember watching it at a much earlier age!!

For anyone who needs a reminder about the story, it’s kind of an Indiana Jones for kids. A bunch of kids let their imaginations run riot when they find an antique treasure map. Suggesting that a mythical pirate’s stash might be located just around the next cliff the Goonies follow the map in order that they might be able to save their hard-up coastal community from being turned into a golf course. Of course the map leads them through all sorts of perilous near misses including underground caves, booby-trapped mineshafts and into the hands of a family of Italian mobsters led by vicious matriarch Mama Fratelli

Watching the film now its like gong back to my childhood but in my opinion still a fantastic family film all of these years later!! it was made in 1985 i think so 23 years ago!! its stil in my top 10 movies of all time!!

Id definately reccomend this movie!

Living as we all now do, in a world where politics and religion, greed and violence permeate every last know crevice of our lives, our tv viewing, our newspapers and radio, there remains in our distant memories a reminder of when life was simple, fun and innocent.
Enter The Goonies. Arguably an all time classic. Everyone has seen it, and everyone loves it. You can even buy Chunk's 'confession' on a huge canvas on Ebay, I did! Clips abound on You Tube.
If you have been living on another planet for the past twenty years, The Goonies is the often told story of a group of schoolkids taking on the adult baddies. Spielberg handled this absolutely brilliantly. It is non-stop action Indiana Jones style, massive amounts of original humor, and a cast that looks like it was bred for the parts. The cinematography is stunning, and this isn't one of those movies that has been 'padded out'. It is a genuinely good all action, laugh a second, DVD.
It has those rare qualities that endear it to children and adults alike, which makes it perfect family viewing. It will never go out of fashion, and will always be remembered by all who have seen it.
If you see a copy then buy it, it doesn't matter if you are six or sixty, it will be money well spent.

THIS IS A GREAT TIMELESS DVD. A GREAT FILM FOR ALL THE FAMILY. IT IS DEFINATLY A MUST SEE .ITS FULL OF FUN AND ADVENTURE WITH A CLASSIC STORY LINE OF FOLLOWING A PIRATE TREASURE MAP TO FIND THE HIDDEN TREASURE AND COMING UP AGAINST BOOBY TRAPS AMONGST OTHER THINGS ALONG THEIR JOURNEY.

I think this has got to be the best film of the 80's. Every sunday as a child i watched it over my nan's. When we were younger we only had it on video. It had been played that many times it starting wearing out, jumping and stuff. I have just now got it on DVD and wow it's brill. No jumping which is a first for me. It was fab to listening to it all. I give this film 10/10. You get family entertainment, comedy, some fab actors and actresses and wicked acting roles. Well done Steven Spielberg.

One of the best Family Films ever, infact, it was a favourite of both my husband and myself long before my son came along, it has both adult and child humour thats makes us ALL laugh, my son watches it at least 2-3 times a week (he's nearly 4 years old), when it wears out, I will definately be purchasing another one! It's a film that will NOT outdate itself!

A must for everybody's DVD collection.
