top of the range, bright, maybe too bright?

So many MP3 players come with horrible headphone - even from Apple. The first thing anyone who likes their music protable needs to do is invest in headphones that do the music some justice. And in this there are choices.
There's super-sharp definition with these wonderful headphones - you catch easily every brush of a drum, every pluck of a string, and all the tones and shades and colours of a voice. Everything seems bright and near. The dynamics are superb.
That's the drawback, though. You gain in definition but you lose on blend. And you lose out too on roundness, fullness, the sense of everything being enclosed in the bass and lower ranges. It's a fair trade-off if the detail is critical for you. But if you're wanting a wall of sound that's unified, then maybe not, maybe even go a bit downmarket from these.
I was getting some sharpness in the treble area from these, nothing horrible, though a little alarming because it was so very bright and near at times. Even thrilling at times. But the sense of a warm bass enveloping everything is completely missing. If it's what you;re after, try elsewhere (maybe Denon?)
Two final points. Firstly, hese are very very small, and can go deep into your ear with no strain on the earhole. That's good for shutting out the world, but unfortunately it's good too for coating the headphones in earwax. The come with a clearnign tool, but you need to use tissues regularly as well, or they'll soon filthy up and become blocked. Secondly, the cables are thin, and I've not had these phones long enough to find out will they be sturdy over time (which is always an issue with dainty little objects such as these are). I can say though that I've had no trouble with the cables brushing agaisnt my clothing, which can happen with this type of lightweight phone. That's not been an issue.
I reckon I'll keep these for certain kinds of music, where I want definition more than all embracing warmth. They ar sharp. But I doubt if they'll become my day-to-day phoens. It's a matter of taste in the end. These have huge quality, but are very specific in what they do brilliantly well.

The Klipsch S4s are simply excellent. The bass is solid and clear, the mid and treble are also clear even when turned up loud. The cable seems thin but it has caused me no issues so far and they come with a 2yr warranty anyway.
If you think £40 is steep then perhaps you should settle for cheaper sounding headphones as these are worth double that price.
If you like a good isolated sound experience especially if you travel a lot then these are for you.
1 tip though, make sure you choose the right rubber earpiece to seal the sound in.

I decided to try out some klipsch to test it out. My verdict is go elsewhere better off with soundmagic for this particular price range, you wont be disappointed. The klipsch sound is unclear and muffled, irritating canal shape which means i can never get a good fit. When i turn my head to a side for example the sound is implicated with the wind. its just not a good buy what so ever, im a audiophile enthusiastic with headphones from high end sony's, sein's, Grado's so i know about quality and these arn't. Take the warning.

Read all the reviews.
I love them! Sound reproduction is well balanced for all types of music.
The slightly oval ear buds fit my ear canals perfectly (experiment with the different sizes) Large work for me I just pop them in and they seal straight away with no fiddling and they never fall out.
The remote works perfectly with my 120gb classic.
These give my Shures a run for their money sound wise and are infact much better for street use.

This are the most unbelievable good earphones I have ever owned. The base is exceptional. The quality of sound is out of this world. The fit is great.
I would highly recommend these.
p.s. I have seen some people complaining about the sound quality. I can only think that the headphones aren't properly in their ears. when they fit nice and snuggly, the sound is AMAZING - and the rest of the world is completely shut out.
