The Marantz CD63...always puts a smile on my face! No joke....

When people "in the know" hear the name Marantz CD63, you may observe them smile and say something like "ah.. the KI signature, what a classic". Others will rave about the SE version in similar fashion. But neither of those unit's would be here but for the often over-looked standard CD63. I recently had the good fortune of finding one such unit for the lowly price of £20. Bargain! I had been without a cd spinner for some time, home cinema had gobbled up most of my spare time. But a blu-ray player is no match for a dedicated to stereo cd player for those old cd's. Years ago I had a KI Sig, and very good it was too. For me though it always over powered music rather than just let it flow. On a level playing field, and to me at least, the bog standard CD63 is better than the later hot-rodded versions. For now at least my "classic" CD63 plays happiy with it's new AV pals, though at some point a set of reasonable headphones will tag along with it. So if you see one at anything like the price I paid, treat yourself....and thumb your nose to the SE KI brigade!

What more can you say about this player. It's been around for such a long time, but still outplays cd players of today. It's a great all rounder, with fantastic sound, and will not disappoint, if you can find one.Mine came with a new laser, and is as good as new. Brilliant!

bought a marantz cd63 and renewed drive & laser great
Created: 20/07/10
i bought it on many recommendations from experts on the net, with a view of installing a new phillips uprated drive train and laser.which i bought complete new on ebay, for a total of £20 inc.postage. it took me about 1 & half hours, to fit with directions printed from u tube.
the end result is a brilliant cd payer. that now should last me years.
in total the cost was £50. i know it is 25 years old but to equal the sound of this unit, to buy new today, i think you would need to spend around £500.
i hope you find this review helpful.
