Panasonic DMR-EX85 DVD Recorder

Having been an avid Panasonic fan before any new machine is cause for interest.
As with most machines of this type you have to get past the plethora or information in the instructions. Anyone who has used these type of machines will have no trouble but beginners may be put off by informaion overload. Don't get me wrong, this is a great machine and works very well. Is is only different from the EX75 by the higher hard drive size of 250gb. The Freeview tuner is great and so is the guide, with quick recording set up. My favorite feature is the speed of the FAST COPY from Hard Drive to DVD. A normal 4.7gb DVD write in about 4 minutes, start to finish. A JVC I had took hours. Quality is excellent and it has HDMI connectivity a SD slot and nice big display on the front. Remote is simple and clear. The only down side to this machine is the lack of a second tuner, to allow you to record 2 channels but if you already have a DVD TV this may not be so much of a drawback. If you still have an analogue TV you may want to consider a PVR with Twin DVD Tuners. Being a techno person...I have both and more money than sense. This machine also does DIVX - which is great for those who know what this is!!!!!!!!!!

I have always purchased Panasonic products because of the quality that this manufacturer has achieved. When I needed a recorder with built in freeview I found this unit on Ebay.

The supplier found that the model adertised was damaged so they upgraded at no extra cost. the unit works well and operats to my complete satisfaction.

I thought I was buying the most up to date kit I could afford. But recording on HDD,and disc recording on anything longer than SP is very poor - certainly not as good as VHS tape. Very disappointed and it is not worth the money at the moment On the other hand, it is very easy to set up and operate and teams well with a Panasonic TV

This machine is competant in all of its specs. Apart from being a very good quality DVD Recorder which, even in its long play modes, produces first rate recordings it alsso has an analogue component which facilitates the digitalisation to DVD of VCR (and other) analogue sources

It was a good price on ebay and it does everything I could possibly want. The epg is a very good feature and saves time. Freeview pictures are upscaled which means they are clearer. It is easy to operate and autotuned quickly.
