Technomate TM-5400 CI Satellite Receiver

The unit was very easy to set up and has a clear user interface. There is a wide choice of scan modes that range from very quick to a "blind search" that takes some time but is very detailed. The tuner seems to be very sensitive to even the weakest channels and provides a clear picture even on my seleco CRT projector!

I have been using this for about 3 weeks now, and have no complaints. I am using an old 1GB USB pendrive for time shifting and the odd recording, more capacity would be needed for a true PVR setup. I have ordered a 1TB drive to attach to the unit for this even though it means finding an extra plug!

I have yet to try the optical out, but I don't think there will be any problems if it is good as the rest of the functions.

A tried and tested make and model.
Ideal for those just starting off in Satellite and for the more experienced still a good receiver.
For the price you can pick this model up new and second hand, "bargin".

This is a repeat purchase of this particular receiver for me. Along with the slightly cheaper 5200 they are the best with no equal as an allround excellent FREESAT receiver. they also have access points for 2x cards and are the only receivers to have been awarded 92% by the magazine BEST SATTELITE which is the top mark for ANY receiver as far as I am aware. PLUS they also have a USB port to allow recoding direct to a stick OR to an external drive. Try buying a receiver for UNDER £50 with this?? You will be VERY lucky indeed!

Downside?? The batteries on the remote will need replacing!!
