) I bought this DVD for my partner as a present. We`ve both never seen it or many of the trailers. It wasn`t what we expected. We thought a western style with gunfighting the usual....It was all about digging for oil and the dangers that accoured back then. Also the main character who bought land where oil was found and dug became a very wealthy an drunken man in the process who brought up a child that wasn`t his own.
Very long film (about 2 an 1/2 hours) but very well worth it. For a film that we we`re unsure about, turned out to be quite surprisingly good.
I would definately recommend to people who like good story lines an a bit of blood.

It must be hell being Daniel Day Lewis, all the parts he gets offered are so intense! I found "There Will Be Blood" confusing at the start, because little is explained: I couldn't even describe Plainview (his character) as a traditional "baddie", he just does bad things - by the end of the film I felt like a "gawker" at a car crash site, knowing that I shouldn't look but being unable to resist.

a good film with a bad title. don't judge a book by its' cover. Daniel Day Lewis is exceptional. Sets the mood of the era wonderfully.

) BEING A BIG FAN OF DANIEL DAY LEWIS, I COULD NOT MISS THIS AWARD WINNING FILM, AND TRUE TO ALL MY EXPECTATIONS, IT WAS FANTASTIC. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE, JUST FOR HIS PERFORMANCE ALONE. THE WHOLE FILM IS GRIPPING AND WILL NOT DISSAPOINT.

A mixture of the feeling Daniel Day Lewis gives you and the greatness of the soundtrack (johnny greenwood - radiohead) really makes it what it is, and that is brilliant.
