Album Notes
The soundtrack for English period comedy the Boat That Rocked mirrors the film's inanimate protagonist, a 1966 clandestine pirate-radio ship piloted by a group of rogue DJs. Similar soundtracks like the Big Chill and Forrest Gump have mined this era with similar riches, but this two-disc set lives up to its promise by delivering a perfectly mixed barrage of high-profile radio hits (the Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night") and under-the-radar album cuts (the Hollies' "I'm Alive") that perfectly echoes the era's "to hell with it all" attitude. ~ James Christopher Monger

The big surprise was it was a double cd, the music was as played in the film. I am not a fan of duffy and when she murdered the lorraine ellison song stay with me, i had one of them moments in life when you realise you were right..she murdered that! she was not in the film why be on the soundtrack? i cant understand why they put that on poor choice when you could have found another classic by an original artist....all the other tracks were grand and if you like all the classics buy this cd.

The Soundtrack That Rocked

Created: 08/07/09
Bought on recommendation and what a fantastic CD! Probably the best CD I've bought in ages. Listened to it twice straight off and love it! A great mix of great music. Not one track I don't like (although there were one or two I didn't recognise from the title, as soon as they started playing my toes were tapping!) Songs have been going round my head ever since I first played the album! If you even only vaguely remember the 70's you'll love this!

Good old UK film with great soundtrack. Classic 60's and for some reason David Bowie's Red Shoes finds it way on here! 20 years to late but its also a great song so no worries!

I love it. A good selection of tunes from the swinging sixies. Takes me back to my childhood with Jimmy Saville on Radio 1 on a Sunday lunchtime - Wahey!!
