There isn’t a more versatile item of clothing in your wardrobe than a pair of jeans. The rest of your clothes would be lost without them.

Finding the perfect pair of jeans can be nothing short of a nightmare though – they're either too baggy or too tight, too long or too short or, you know, just not quite right.

That's why we've asked plus-size blogger, Rosie from A Rose Like This to share her jean-buying wisdom and round-up the most bad-ass plus-size jeans that money can buy...

1. High Waisted Skinny Jeans

My favourite! Skinny jeans are great for most body shapes, providing you choose the right colour wash.

An exaggerated high waistband means they’ll be a good fit for the more apple-shaped among us, as they’ll fit snug around the thighs and keep the tummy in, avoiding any hint of a muffin top.

2. High Waisted Bootcut Jeans

Worried about your tummy? Not only will high waisted, bootcut jeans elongate your legs, the high waist will also streamline your silhouette for an ultra-flattering fit. Clever, eh?

Go for a dark wash and you'll also avoid drawing attention to any unwanted places.

3. Kick Flare Jeans

Look to the Seventies for one of the most-flattering styles around – and dare to flare!

Opt for a kick-flare jean in a dark wash as they'll help elongate your legs and work with most pieces in your wardrobe.

4. Embroidered Relaxed Fit Jeans

This style might not be to everyone's taste, but embroidery is big this season – and I love statement embroidered jeans

A dark wash will not only makes the pattern pop, but also makes them wearable for everyday. Comfy and with a Boho vibe – they're the perfect festival jeans.

5. Ripped Skinny Jeans

The classic skinny jean has had an update! These ripped skinny jeans are given a contemporary reprise with slashes down the thighs to give a more worn-in feel.

They help slim the legs drastically by drawing the eye down the leg, so these jeans are actually way more universally flattering than more traditional denim styles that add excess and unneeded bulk.

6. Denim Culottes

Extremely popular for the summer, denim culottes are back in a big way again this season.

The length and shape won’t work for everyone, but taller ladies should make culottes a staple thanks to the super-flattering cut.

Take them to the office by teaming with a sleeveless top and heels.

7. Classic Boyfriend Jeans

Some things just never go out of style – and the classic boyfriend jean is one of them.

This style works for all shapes, but you'll want to look for a high-rise pair so  they sit comfortably against your back.

Boyfriend jeans are the ultimate weekend jean – wear with flats during the day and then add a heel after dark.

8. Denim Shorts

Okay, so technically shorts aren't jeans, but no wardrobe is complete without a pair of denim shorts.

And they work all year round. Take them to the beach in the summer or wear with tights when it’s chilly.

When buying denim shorts, you want to consider the length while standing up and sitting down.  Otherwise you'll find yourself pulling them down all the time.

9. Coloured Jeans

Coloured denim is a great way to brighten up your wardrobe, especially if you tend to live in black.

If you’re feeling brave,  vibrant-coloured denim is everywhere this season, but for a more wearable look, keep the shade muted and team with neutral tones.

10. Mom Jeans

The 'mom' jean is extremely high waisted with high pockets, so it instantly makes legs appear longer.

This style will keep your tummy in too. What's not to love?
