Use Convertible Furniture

Sneak in storage where people would least expect it. Multi-purpose furniture that can transform for a variety of different functions can really help stretch your space. Futons are great because they can be used as a sofa and a bed.  Ottomans with storage and coffee tables can secretly hide extra sets of sheets, sweaters, books and anything in -between.

Go Up

Take advantage of vertical space.

Dish drainers can take up a lot of precious countertop space in a small kitchen.  A good-looking, space-saving wall mount dish rack should do the trick.

A vertical wine rack on the wall and your wine is up and out of the way as well as part of the decor.

For everything that you have in your entryway—things like keys, post, dog leashes, and so on, a coat rack shelf with cubbies and baskets is absolutely the best way to keep them organised.

No Room for a Table, No Problem

If your living room area is teeny tiny, an arm rest table is pretty awesome.

Quickly organise and store all your favourite TV accessories, magazines, pens etc.  While the table top surface provides a place to set your drink and snacks!  Perfect when there's no room for a side table.

Drop-leaf tables are a godsend for small homes. Keep the leaves down and conserve valuable space - then raise them up and squeeze additional people in at the dinner table.  The narrow form leaves plenty of space in the room for other furnishings.
TIP:  Add clear acrylic chairs to create the illusion of space.

Maximise Your Wardrobe Space

No matter what size the home is, can there ever really be enough wardrobe space?!

You can quite literally double the space in your wardrobe by hanging a secondary rack for clothes off of the first one. Genius!

If you don't have space for a dresser, a hanging jumper shelf organiser is a great place to keep things like jeans and jumpers.  It will help squeeze out every inch of storage space that your closet can possibly muster.

Go Over

If the cabinet under the sink in the bathroom is bursting at the seams and counter space is non-existent an over-the-tap shelf makes use of what little space a small bathroom has.

Hang a cabinet or shelving over the toilet or towel rack to store toothpaste.

Door Storage

Don't overlook doors for storage.

Hang a basket inside the bathroom vanity door for rubbish, or a kitchen cabinet for storing plastic wrap or cleaning supplies.

Over the door shoe organisers can be used for much more than shoe storage.....
  • Hang one inside of your pantry door and use to store spices and other small kitchen items, like season packets, plastic utensils, sandwich bags and so much more.
  • Hang in an office or craft room to store office and craft supplies.
  • Children’s bedrooms/play rooms to store small toys, clothing, baby supplies.
  • Bathroom/wardrobe to store make up, jewellery, scarves, bathroom necessities.
