1. USE FLOSS TO CUT CHEESE AND CAKES

Dental floss works really well for cutting uniform cake slices, or for slicing other soft food like cheese. Make sure your floss is unflavoured and then cut off a piece of floss that is longer than what you want to cut. Then, use your piece of floss to cut slices into the cake or other goodie.

2. INSTALL A TENSION ROD UNDER SINK FOR MORE EFFICIENT STORAGE

Using a tension rod under your sink to hang cleaners like Method spray makes a super-efficient hack. It'll eliminate time spent scrounging around under the sink looking for your most used items. It works because the tension rod adds another level of storage that's right in front.

3. USE A MUFFIN TIN FOR CONDIMENTS AT LARGE GATHERINGS

Muffin tins make the perfect way to serve condiments at large gatherings. Instead of having many bottles and bowls containing condiments, put them in the muffin tin so that everything your guests need is in one place.

If counter space is an issue in your kitchen, or you are teaching your kids to cook, a muffin tin makes an excellent place to separate ingredients that you need for your recipe.

4. USE A DAMP KITCHEN TOWEL TO KEEP BOWLS FROM SLIPPING

If you've ever used a bowl to cook with and it doesn't have a non-slip bottom, then you know how frustrating it can be to try to keep the bowl in place. Instead of letting the bowl move around on the counter, get a damp kitchen towel and wrap it around the base of the bowl. The towel will keep the bowl from moving.

5. LET YOUR BLENDER CLEAN ITSELF

Stop cleaning your blender by hand! When you are done using your blender, fill it 1/4 of the way full of warm water, add a squirt of dish soap, and then put the canister back on the base, and turn on the blender for a few seconds. This will agitate the soapy water, cleaning the inside of the blender. Easy, peasy. Make sure the lid is on tight!

6. PEEL BOILED EGGS EASIER WHEN YOU ADD BAKING SODA TO THE WATER

Peeling hard boiled eggs can be a real pain when the shell doesn't come off easily. However, you can make peeling the egg easier by adding baking soda to the water while you boil the eggs. It's a chemistry thing. Apparently the baking soda increases the alkalinity in the eggs which then makes them easier to peel. By the way, we've also heard that the fresher the egg, the harder it is to peel (weird, right?)!

7. CLEAN MICROWAVE WITH VINEGAR AND WATER

Cleaning your microwave just got a whole lot easier using this trick. Instead of trying to scrub out all of the stuck-on food and splatters, place a bowl, glass, or mug of equal parts vinegar and water in the microwave. Heat the liquid for 5-10 minutes, remove the cup, and then wipe down your microwave with a soft cloth. Your microwave should be easy to wipe down without scrubbing!

8. FRY EGGS IN A MASON JAR LID FOR PERFECT SHAPE

Try this hack for perfectly round eggs. Spray your skillet and place Mason jar rings in the pan. Crack your eggs into the rounds and let it cook. Once the egg is no longer runny, turn the egg over (leaving inside the ring) so that it can cook on the other side.

9. USE EMPTY TOILET PAPER ROLLS AS A BIODEGRADABLE SEED STARTER

Cut a few vertical slits in the bottom 1/4 of an empty toilet paper roll. Fold the strips over each other in an overlapping fashion to make the bottom of the planter. Use a piece of Duct tape to hold the pieces closed. Fill the roll with damp soil and then plant the seed. Once the seedling has grown, take the Duct tape off of the bottom of the toilet paper roll and plant in a pot or in the ground. The toilet paper roll will biodegrade!

Empty toilet rolls also make a great way to store cords. Just slip the folded up cord in through the center of the roll, and it'll keep your cord tangle free and neatly folded.

10. STORE SHEETS IN PILLOW CASE

If you've ever gone searching through your linen closet for matching sheet sets, then you'll wonder why you haven't used this hack before. Fold and place sheets inside the pillow case that the sheets go with. This not only keeps the sheets together, but it makes the sheets easier to organise in your closet.

11. RUB A WALNUT ON SCUFFED WOOD TO COVER UP DINGS

The oils found in walnuts work wonders for repairing scuffs and scratches in wood furniture. Just rub a walnut several times over scratches and then let the oils from the walnut soak into the wood for several minutes. Use a soft cloth to rub the treated area and the scratch should be gone.

12. POUR COFFEE INTO AN ICE TRAY FOR ICED COFFEES

If iced coffees are your thing, you'll love this hack. Pour coffee into an ice tray and freeze, making coffee cubes. Use the coffee cubes when you want iced coffee so that you don't water it down.

13. TIE A RIBBON ON YOUR LUGGAGE FOR EASIER IDENTIFICATION

One of the easiest ways around to help identify your luggage when you travel is to tie a ribbon on the handle of your suitcase. This way, if your suitcase resembles anyone else's, you'll know which one is yours without checking the luggage tag.

14. KEEP DRYER SHEETS IN YOUR SUITCASE WHEN YOU TRAVEL

Dryer sheets are amazing for making sure your clothes don't end up smelling musty. Just throw a few dryer sheets in your suitcase and your clothes will smell fresh out of the dryer the whole trip. You can also rub the dryer sheets on your body to help prevent mosquito bites, and they work great for wiping off sand at the beach. (Baby powder works for wiping off sand, too!)

15. TURN YOUR PHONE ON AIRPLANE MODE TO CHARGE

If your mobile phone is low on juice and you don't have a lot of time to charge it, turn on airplane mode while you charge it. While you won't be able to use your network connection, you'll decrease your charge time because the background processes will be turned off.
