Of course each new season means a whole host of trends to get your head around. Not sure where to start? We asked Rivkie, Editor-in-Chief of plus-size magazine Slink to pick the most covetable plus-size buys for summer...

This may seem like an obvious one, but hitting refresh on your basics can make all the difference to your wardrobe.

From block colours to bold prints and cute slogans, there's plenty of plus-size T-shirts around to inspire you.

A tee in an on-trend print will update your jeans in an instant, without setting you back much.

Long, warm summer days lead into rather breezy evenings, so ensuring you have a stylish summer cardigan for the evening is a must.

A lightweight knit is great for holidays too as it's easy to pack – think long waterfall or a fitted Fifties style for ultimate versatility.

As soon as the sun shines, I'm floating around in a maxi dress!

And they work for every eventuality – from a chic wedding-guest ensemble to lazy Sunday afternoons in the park.

Keep it casual by teaming with a pair of flat gladiator sandals and then dress up in the evening with a wedge.

5. Maxi Skirts

The maxi skirt is a definite must in your summer wardrobe refresh.

This season, it's all about  the Boho vibe. For laid-back hippy chic, team a tiered maxi skirt with the must-have item of the moment – the peasant top (see below). You'll look like you’ve wandered straight off the catwalk.

6. Peasant Blouse

This is one piece that I can't get enough of! Loose and relaxed, the peasant top flatters all figures. Just be sure to get yourself a great plus-size T-shirt bra so that you feel supported.

Look out for tops that feature lots of embellishment details such as embroidery, tassels and mirror disks. Team with a co-ordinating maxi skirt, or keep it chic with a straight-legged jean.

7. Off-the-Shoulder Tops

Off-the-shoulder tops are a must – and they're easier to wear than you might think.

This is a great style  for those more conscious of their upper arms as it actually gives quite a lot of coverage while showing off some skin. A decent strapless bra is an essential partner here too.

Another firm summer staple, a denim jacket should definitely be on your shopping list. The catwalks were obsessed with Nineties styles – think faded with a loose-fit and distressed detailing.

Treat your denim jacket like a cardigan and layer it over dresses and tees for maximum style.

9. Shirt Dresses
