A hand loomed old linen sack of treasure!

In the attic clearance was an old hand loomed linen sack tied at the neck. A heavy parcel that I couldn`t wait to get home and open.

I didn`t want to open it up and truffle through it before I loaded it up just in case the seller decided he wanted to keep it! I carried it out without drawing any attention to it at all!!
I knew that the sack was 18th century as the linen was coarse and hand loomed. It was patched and darned and as the neck was tied tight with old twine I couldn`t even peek inside!

Of course my imagination was running wild as I carried it. I could have had a big let down and found it was full of old newspapers but my head was filled with all sorts of crazy notions.

Treasure revealed!

I wasn`t disappointed! It was filled with reams of unused 18th century parchment paper, tactile old cream, large heavyweight.

Each ream in a book like bundle that is so well preserved it must have been stored in that sack from the day it was delivered.
Can you imagine it filled with old script?

Was it the stock of an old book printer or a supply of paper for a notaires clerk to write his manuscripts and deeds?

Can you imagine a notaire`s clerk bent over it by candlelight with his quill and ink?

Being listed this evening......a wonderful find!
