Fashion trends come and go. Some fade away into oblivion, never to be seen again, while others see a resurgence with a new generation. In hip-hop, we've seen everything from Adidas Shelltoes to huge gold rope chains become uber popular, then disappear and return again. Presently, several trends from the 1990s are back... in full force.

In this list, we break down some popular trends from the 1990s that the younger generation have brought back and made their own.

Starter Jackets

At one time, Starter was the official apparel provider of most major American sports. The Satin Starter Jacket served as the best way to represent your team... or simply give the wearer some major style points. While they disappeared, only to be found on eBay in vintage form, the brand has returned in recent years... garnering just as much love from the hip-hop community as it did in the 1990s. Especially with the success of the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, Raiders jackets have become a bit of a uniform if you're going for a street-savvy style.

Jordan Retro Trainers

The trainerhead culture has exploded over the last half-decade, and Jordan Brand has made a killing with their retro releases... but the trend started back in the late 1980s and 1990s, as Michael Jordan grew into a global superstar. Today, Jordan Retro trainers are among the most sought after by hip-hop fans and the urban culture alike. References of the classic trainers are even heard in chart-topping pop songs. Every body wants their Js... and they gotta be retros.

Overalls

Overalls were huge in the 1990s. Some wore them up, while others worn them down. As quickly as they became a trend, their popularity faded with the times. But... they're back. From Carhartt to Dickies, the overall fad has become a go-to for many style seekers. Paired with a fresh pair of Js, you can't go wrong.

Snapback Caps

Sports-themed  snapbacks were one of the biggest trends in the 1990s. Some of you may even recall the iconic Starter commercial, where DJ Jazzy Jeff broke down how you grab the hat, flip the hat, and slam the hat to give you the perfect look. While the fitted cap became the hat of choice in the late 1990s and early 2000s, kids have reverted back to the snapback look in present day. These days, however, snapbacks are available for not only sports teams, but some of your favorite brands.

Timberland Boots

The 1990s were the era of the  Timberland 6-Inch Boot. And while they didn't exactly ever become unpopular, the boot has returned to footwear rotations across the board. The Timberland is essentially a classic that never goes out of style... but it does have its peaks and valleys, and it's back at the top.
