Grab an extra large popcorn, 2016 is looking good. It appears the onslaught of comic-book adaptation films will continue in 2016, with what looks to be no sign of them slowing down anytime soon. We finally get a few new characters we haven't seen before, like Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ok I lied, Reynolds' Deadpool popped up for a brief moment in 2009's  X-Men Origins:  Wolverine, but that doesn't count.

The following are 5 films I'm really looking forward to in 2016, and so should you. Of course not all the great films slated for 2016 made the cut, but this is a bit of an opinion piece, so deal with it.

Deadpool - February 12th, 2016

It seems as though 2016 will be the year of the AntiHero.  Deadpool was originally depicted as a supervillian when he made his first appearance in The New Mutants, but has since evolved into the role of an antihero. Basically, Ryan Reynolds plays a character we can't help but love, even though Deadpool lacks conventional heroic attributes.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice - March 25th, 2016

I for one hated Man of Steel, however  Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is shaping up  to be one of the films I'm most looking forward to in 2016. Zack Snyder, love him or hate him, has created one of the most watched trailers to come out of Comic Con 2015. It took away all the worries I had of Ben Affleck playing The Dark Knight.  Did I mention Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman?

Star Trek 3 - July 8th, 2016

This should need no explanation. The first two films were amazing and can't help but get giddy over the third. However,   Star Trek 3 has seen some production flubs -- Robert Orci left the director's chair with Justin Lin as his replacement. On a lighter, more exciting note - Simon Pegg is co-writing the script, so there's that.

Suicide Squad - August 5th, 2016

Talk about blockbuster.  Suicide Squad was another film that had quite the trailer release at this year's Comic Con. Jared Leto proved he is the right kind of crazy to take the role as The Joker. Along with Leto, we will see Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne),  Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and more!

Untitled Matt Damon/Bourne Sequel - July 29th, 2016

The old  Bourne duo are back: Paul Greengrass is returning to the franchise, along with Matt Damon. I just hope they bring back the pen fight we saw in the first film, because that made it!
