The ‘Make a Statement’ Handbag

We really like the colour block tote handbags at the moment. There are plenty of these on Bay so you should be able to find one in your favourite colours, and they will always look great with a classic black outfit.  We love something like this; the colours are great and we love the winged look.

The ‘Bring to Work Everyday’ Handbag

The best style at the moment seems to the classic black tote. There are so many options and it looks great with everything. If you’re looking for designer you can’t go wrong with Michael Kors, however not all of us are willing to part with our money. Luckily there are hundreds of low priced similar styles around that are high quality and look almost identical. For a unique style, look for winged totes or totes with different zipper or cut out designs.

Ensure to check the dimensions, particularly the width, with a handbag you already own, as the size in pictures can often be deceiving. Choose a handbag with a zipped closure and plenty of inner compartments to keep your every day essentials safe and organized. And possibly the most important thing to remember, if you can’t find a bag with an additional adjustable shoulder strap, ensure the handles are going to be wide enough to carry over your shoulder. The last thing you want is to be lugging the bag back and forth from work in your hands. We love something like this one above. It’s large and practical with a textured look.

The ‘Plane & Trains Travel’ Handbag

When catching a flight for a quick city break, I would suggest a small drawstring/duffle backpack. These are great for taking on the plane as you can wear them on your back whilst wheeling along your small suitcase, they will fit easily in any overhead compartment, and of course they still look cute.

Try to find one with zipped compartments and even a zipped closure along with the drawstring closure for extra security. Again compartments are essentials to avoid those panicked moments of being unable to locate your passport. Often these bags can be quite small, so ensure you have enough room for your travel essentials, e.g phone, keys, lip-gloss, passport, chewing gum, purse, book and a bottle of water. We love something like this one, as it’s very cute and practical.

The ‘Night Out’ Handbag

For a night out we love a mini tote with a shoulder strap, as of course you still need to be able to dance whilst wearing the handbag. Bright colours or pastels are great as they add a bit of colour to your outfit and you can match them to your shoes. Look for something that’s going to stand out. And as always, a zipped closure is your best bet so your purse doesn’t fall out on the dance floor. We love something like this one, as it looks very unique and has a great strap.

The ‘Festival’ Handbag

Festival season is fast approaching. Our favourite styles are small crossbody shoulder bags. This style is both practical and keeps with the festival look. You can cross it over your shoulder for security and it’s by your side rather than on your back to deter pickpocketing. We love something like this, as it’s simple and practical. We would go for a tan brown as it will match better with your summery look.

Hope this has given you some idea of the best essential handbags to go for. Feel free to comment and check out our boutique and vintage store below.
