Being a mum of boys means Valentine's Day isn't all lovey-dovey-full of flowers, hearts and red glitter. Having 10 year old and 7 year old boys means finding that little something for them that says Mum loves you but I know you are little dudes and don't care for the mushy hearts, flowers and glitter. Mama is ok with that. Check out these Valentine gifts for the special little guy(s) in your life that shows you love them without grossing them out with all the cutesy lovey-dovies.
LEGO my heart
Both of my boys love building with their LEGO sets. I found these neat little LEGO heart sets that would be a good fit for a Valentine's gift. I bet they'll have little LEGO brick hearts in their eyes if I gave them some of these. You could also buy just a LEGO baseplate and LEGO bricks (if they don't all ready have 50 gazillion on their bedroom floor) and brick out their names on the board for them.
A guy going around shooting people with arrows making them fall in love? All my boys would hear is shooting arrows. Let your fella take a shot at playing Cupid with a toy bow and arrow set (we like the foam sets) and be sure they know not to actually shoot them at people. This would be a fun way to have them run off the school Valentine's Day party sugar high once they get home.
Little hero saves V day!
Is your son obsessed with Superman, Batman or any of the other super heroes like my 7 year old? You could put together a little gift set of his favourite action figures, stickers, maybe a new thermos cup and wrap it up in his very own super hero cape.
Sweet team spirit
My 10 year old is all about football. His favorites are Dallas Cowboys and West Va. Mountaineers (follows his daddy's footsteps on those). Game on! If you have a football fanatic to buy for, you could get him a team hat or a Nerf football set and wrap it up in a tote bag or jersey from his favourite team. You could also find a football sweet mold of his fave team and make him some homemade treats that are sure to score you a V-day victory dance.
Yoda one for him
Cookies you feed him, love you he will. My 7 year old not only likes his super heroes but he loves his Star Wars too. He also loves to bake with me after school and at the weekends. I can combine both his love of Star Wars and baking by getting some cookie dough, sets of Star Wars cookie cutters, a Star Wars cookie jar (to put it all in) and maybe a R2-D2 kitchen timer (because he loves asking how much longer 'til it's done?). This gift idea would not only be a gift for him but also memories of spending time with Mum in the kitchen.
