1. Stay Off Your Computer and Devices Before Bed

If you want to wake up early, you need to make sure to stay away from your computer and mobile devices in the hour leading up to bedtime. This is partly because your computer and devices are full of distractions, especially the internet. You plan to just watch one YouTube video and the next thing you know it's an hour later! Staying away from your computer,  smartphone, and/or  tablet before bed means you're more likely to go to bed on time. But staying away from these devices is also helpful in that you're not looking at their bright screens late at night. Reading computer and device screens late at night has been linked to reduced quality of sleep. And the worse you sleep, the harder it will be to get up early!

2. Stay Warm

Believe it or not, the simple act of staying warm can help you wake up early! This is because if you're warm you'll sleep well, versus waking up a lot because you're cold. The trick is to just be warm, not hot. Consider wearing a pair of socks to bed, get a  heated blanket, or just turn up the heat at night! If you're comfortable you'll sleep soundly and will have an easier time waking up.

3. Put Your Alarm Far Away

Do you like to hit the snooze button a lot in the morning? That'd be hard to do if your alarm wasn't next to your bed! To force yourself to get up early, try putting your  alarm clock across the room. If you get yourself out of bed and walk all the way over to the clock, it's likely that you'll just resign yourself to staying awake.

4. Plan a Nice Start to the Day

To ease the pain of an early wake up time, try to plan a nice start to your early day. Set aside time for a relaxing 15 minutes with a book or newspaper. Or maybe promise yourself a  special breakfast. If necessary, wake up even earlier to allow yourself time for this. You're getting up early anyway, so an extra 15-30 minutes less sleep won't hurt. And having something to look forward to will help give you the push to get up in the first place!

5. Prepare the Night Before

A simple way to make it easier to wake up early is to prepare at night for the next day. Lay out your clothes and gather anything you might need for the following day. Make it so you don't have to think about much once you wake up. This will help ease the stress of waking up early, as you won't have to try to remember things or put together an outfit.
