5 beautifully unique window treatments you can make yourself / By Funky Junk Interiors for @ebay

Everyone loves window treatments. They visually warm up a room, muffle the noise, and offer some privacy.

I personally like to challenge myself to create something unexpected. So I came up with a few non traditional window treatments that are uniquely beautiful in their own right. They've been big hits on my blog, 'Funky Junk Interiors', so I felt that they may be worth sharing here.

Ready to get your DIY on? Here's how to make a few non traditional window treatments, the Funky Junk way... :)

Farmhouse window frame

Can you believe this is the same window? It surely is.
Get the farmhouse look (see the entire room HERE) with no fancy boards, nor miter joins in sight.
  •  Remove all wall mounted existing window trim.
  • Purchase standard pine boards, and sand well.
  • Starting with a window sill, create the shape desired and air nail into place (on top of existing window sill)

  • Continue with the rest of the boards, cutting to size with a miter saw, fitting them around the window sill like building blocks. Air nail into place.
  • Layer the header casing one board on top of another, to achieve the faux miter effect.
  • Prime, add caulking, then paint.
  • For faux mullions, hand cut and apply self adhesive vinyl decal material.
