New year, new vibes! I love to switch up my home and studio (often)! There's something about re-arranging and styling my home that makes me feel renewed and organised! Follow these stylish and inexpensive ways to refresh your home for the new year! For more tricks and tips to refresh your home follow my New Year New Home Collection.
Switch Out or Add a Rug
Rugs can completely change the tone of a space (and make it super cosy) I have an arsenal of rugs that I keep on hand and constantly switch in and out! For a textured-colourful look, add a shaggy Moroccan rug to a hallway or to update your kitchen, add a small colourful kilim rug at the kitchen sink.
Establish a Scent
Get those incense sticks or candles burning! Remember, it doesn't have to be a special occasion to burn candles. Make it a habit and burn them daily. Your space will start to take on the scent of your choice. To clear out that energy and refresh your space, burn these white sage bundles.
Add a Plant
Plants make everything better. Brighten up a bland corner in your home with a real plant. Find a colourful pot or gorgeous stand for your new addition. Get to know what the plant's needs are (sun/water/placement etc.) before bringing it home.
Swap your Cushions
Take the sofa cushions and try them in the bedrooms and vice versa. Go shopping in your own home and reinvent your space with the things you already have. If you need a new style try a kantha, or ikat cushion like this.
Replace Your Fixtures
If your wallet isn't quite ready for a full home re-do, replace your generic shower head, taps and knobs. For a boho glam look, go gold. Swapping out your shower head will definitely make that morning routine a little more luxurious.
Bring on the Paint
A fun way to make a space or piece of furniture feel brand new, is paint. Paint your existing table or armoire a new colour. For an extra stylish look, paint a border or use stencils to add designs to the furniture.
Upgrade Your Towels
If your towels are towards the end of their life, upgrade them. Use Turkish towels in the guest bathrooms, white plush towels in the master and bright colours for the kids. Don't forget about the kitchen - small changes go a long way.
Introduce Feng Shui
Clear the clutter and study up on feng shui. Think about what you have underneath your bed, that may be the source of your sleep disruption. Remove bills, work stuff, or any stressful items that are living under your bed. A few simple swaps and changes to the design and layout of your home can help promote peace, prosperity and just overall good juju.
