Working from home is great, but working from bed is a terrible idea. Really. Kitting out a home office that’s almost as appealing as a bed doesn’t have to cost a fortune, though, especially if you choose refurbished products. These are products that have been returned to the seller, fully refurbished, tested and checked. They come with a 12-month warranty from eBay if you buy from eBay – and can save you up to 50% off the cost of buying brand new. Seems like a no-brainer, huh?

Here are a few ways to turn the office space in your home into somewhere you’ll love working.

1. Laptop

Laptops are perfect for those that work from home, but occasionally have to trek into the office, too, allowing you to easily transport your working life from one place to another.

There are plenty of refurbished options available, some of which are small, light and easy to carry, while others are a little larger, giving you more screen to work with. Choose what’s most important to you before you buy, whether that’s battery life, portability or processing power.

Two To Try:
1.  Lenovo IdeaPad 500s has a 13.3-inch display, coupled with an Intel Core i7 processor and 128GB SSD.

2.  Apple MacBook Air 11.6-inch offers a lovely design and comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Plus it's super light, so great for easy transportation.

2. Desktop Computer

Laptops are great, especially when it comes to moving them around, but there is nothing quite like a big screen if you work from home more often than not.

A refurbished desktop computer means you can have your email open alongside a Word document and even BBC iPlayer if you fancy catching up on your favourite soap.

Two To Try:
1.  Acer 21.5-inch XC-215 offers a good-sized display and comes with a 12-month warranty. There's 1TB of hard-drive memory, along with 4GB of RAM and it runs on an Intel Celeron processor.

2.  Asus AiO has a lovely design. It's an all-in-one desktop PC with a 21.5-inch touchscreen that runs on Intel's Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM.

3. Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse

If you’re not into the idea of getting an additional desktop computer, then a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse that will work with your laptop is a good idea.

A separate keyboard and mouse means you’ll be able to put your laptop on a stand a bit further away on your desk to give you more space. There are plenty of options available, just be sure to check the ones you pick are compatible with your PC or Mac.

Two To Try:
1.  Apple wireless keyboard has an aluminium design and low-profile keys. It's Wi-Fi-enabled, and will power down when you aren't using it.

2.  Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth mobile keyboard is an ultra-slim device that is portable and features soft-touch keys. It's compatible with PCs, iPads and Android devices.

4. Printer

It’s quite surprising how often you still need to print something, even in this wonderful digital world. Whether that be a boarding pass, an itinerary, or some minutes from a meeting that you need to sign with an actual pen, refurbished printers are handy little things.

You could opt for a standard black-and-white option, or you could get a fancy photo printer that will turn those super snaps from your smartphone into frameable art pieces. Skills dependant, of course.

Two To Try:
1.  HP Envy 4520 All-In-One is a wireless all-in-one printer that can print, scan and copy. You can even print directly from your smartphone, which is rather handy.

2.   Canon Pixma MX300 All-In-One is ideal if you want to send faxes or print out high-quality photos as well as documents. And it comes in at a  very reasonable price, too.

5. Speaker

If you’re someone who can work with background noise, a speaker is a must. This could be a Bluetooth speaker, allowing you to stream music directly from your smartphone straight to the battery-operated speaker that you can place anywhere in your office.

Alternatively, you could opt for a multi-room speaker setup that will enable you to stream music around your home, moving from your living room to your kitchen to your office, without missing a single beat.

Two To Try:
1. Pure Jongo T6 (T6X) Wireless Speaker with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is a multi-room speaker that has a smart design, and offers the ability to play music in any room.

2.  Sony SRSX11 Bluetooth Speaker is a well-designed, low-cost wireless Bluetooth speaker that allows you to stream tunes for up to 12 hours.

6. Coffee Machine

There are some necessities required for a home office and then there are some luxuries. A coffee machine most certainly falls into the luxury camp, though the price of a refurbished one makes it a little less of an indulgence.

Getting up to boil the kettle isn’t a huge hardship, but having a coffee machine on your desk means you only have to lift a finger, literally. Choose one with a decent-sized water tank and you might even make it through the day without having to get up to refill it. Some will even make hot chocolate and tea, too.

Two To Try:
1.   Delonghi ECC221.B Traditional Pump Espresso Coffee Machine not only creates espressos, cappuccinos and lattes, it's also got a milk-frothing arm so you can feel like a professional barista.

2.  Bosch Tassimo T20 Amia TAS2002GB is a good economical choice, allowing you to make a variety of hot and cold drinks at the touch of a button.

7. Desk Lamp

None of us like working late, but when we do, decent lighting is essential. A ceiling light can be a little harsh, or in some cases, not harsh enough.

Desk lamps on the other hand, allow you to target the light exactly where you need it. There are all sorts of options, some of which have built-in speakers, others of which can charge your smartphone. Just because it’s a light doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

Two To Try:
1.   ENHANCE 1.6 Watts Foldable LED Super Bright Desk Light is completely adjustable and dimmable allowing you to get just the right angle and brightness. USB-powered, it can be plugged into your computer, too.

2.  J by Jasper Conran Metal Classic Angle Desk Table Lamp keeps it classic, with a timeless design and a durable metal construction.

8. Smart Home Camera

Smart home cameras are a little bit creepy, as anyone with access to the accompanying app and password can see exactly what you’re doing and when. They are very useful, though.

Smart home cameras notify you of any irregular activity via your smartphone. If someone is in your office and they shouldn’t be, a smart home camera makes sure you know who (models with face recognition) and when, and saves the evidence to the Cloud or your smartphone.

Keep an eye out for these hitting the world of refurb soon.

Two To Try:
1.  Schlage WCO100 can be used indoors or outdoors, and even has Infrared Night Vision so you can see what's going on when you're asleep. Spooky.

2.  Withings Home not only monitors who comes in and out of your office, but it can also check air quality and allow you to tell someone to get out of your office via your smartphone, thanks to the built-in speaker.

9. Desk

Why not check out a treadmill desk? These allow you to walk and work at the same time, so you’ll hit your 10,000-step goal and finish that PowerPoint presentation, all without needing to step a single foot in a leisure centre. They might be a tad pricey as they've not yet made their way onto the shelves of refurbished stores, but just think what you'll save on gym fees and once this new trend takes hold

Two To Try:
1. Office Fitness ActiWork treadmill desk has a reasonable desktop size of 1000 x 575mm and comes in three wood options. The treadmill has a maximum speed of 6mph, although that might be a bit speedy if you're trying to fill in a spreadsheet at the same time.

2.  Office Fitness High Riser 2EA treadmill desk allows you to choose the desktop colour, desktop size and frame colour so it's great if you want a customised desk to match your office colour scheme. The frame is adjustable, too, as is the height.
