A HISTORY OF JEWELLERY

THE ANCIENT GREEKS

As with the Egyptians, jewellery was worn as a way of displaying your wealth. With gold scarce, jewellery was made from metal and semi-precious stones. Men's jewellery became functional, for example Seal Rings for documents and brooches to fasten clothing. Women's jewellery was more decorative, with carved cameos being popular.
