A back to school on a budget buying guide

So if you are like me you have probably spent a fair bit  entertaining your kids over the summer and now have to find even more money to fund them going back to school. Well I hope my back to school on a budget buying guide will help.
I have learned to shop smart when it comes to kitting out my kids for going back to school.
For those first few years I indulged my children's whims of  themed  lunch bottles, water bottles and school bags only to find 6 months down the line that phase had passed and they wanted everything replacing. Now I know to buy items that will last and ask them what colours they like rather than anything else. Colours go out of favour much  later than TV/film characters. It is also cheaper to buy products that come without 'themes' in many cases.

I love these lunch boxes from Sistema available on  ebay.co.uk that I show in my  Back to School Ebay collection. The colours are vibrant and attractive and the boxes are robust and really easy to wash. Practical and pretty and made to last.
These lunch boxes have another great money saving quality too . They have lots of little compartments inside so you don't have to buy individually packed raisins or portions of cheese you can buy loose items which are always cheaper. You don't have to use food bags or wrap the food, items can go straight into the box. So in many ways a food box like this will save you money.
I use the same principles of  finding quality practical products that look great but won't date when it comes to bags and water bottles too. These items need to be robust to withstand school life and you want them to last so good value is important but so is good quality
Labelling is another key consideration when you are considering buying items for back to school. That is why items that are personalised like this pencil case set are a really good idea.

Missing items are a real problem in busy school s and if your child's belongings are named you are much more likely to get them back. Investing in a Sharpie and writing your child's names on all their labels is such a simple, quick, cost effective solution.
I have to say my no.1 tip for back to school budgeting is think long term and label, label, label!
