How did it start?

I’ve been around dad’s business since I was four. I sold my first car at 11. My first purchase,  a  Peugeot 205 GTi, was snapped up on eBay for £32.01, having been listed as scrap. We brought that car back to life and sold it for a healthy profit.

I continued to reinvest my profits using eBay as my sole port of call for a number of years. When it was time to go to University, I was in real doubt. I had proven to myself that a sustainable living could be made without a degree so opted to continue working after finishing my A levels. I landed a job as a Private Equity Broker at an Asset Management firm in Mayfair and did rather well, but my passion for cars was bigger. I found myself leaving my job and moving to a stable to pursue my dream.

Was your dad supportive?

My dad helped a lot. I started selling cars for his existing clients. From then on, the business grew faster than I could have ever hoped.

The current boom in the classic car market and what had been a dream and ambition snowballed into a proper business and thus Duke of London was born. I still work with my dad. My showroom backs on to my his workshop. We run renovation projects together.
