iPad Air 2

At just 6.1mm thick the Air 2 is Apple’s thinnest iPad to date. It builds on the original iPad Air, launched last year, with the addition of Touch ID – Apple’s fingerprint recognition tool you can use to unlock the device.

The Air 2 also comes with a brand-new processor chip, A8X, which, Apple says, increases performance by 40%. Apple says the Air 2 comes with a battery life of up to 10 hours.

The revamped iPad also has a rear-facing, 8-megapixel camera and comes with a number of iPhone photo features like Slo-Mo, Time Lapse and Burst Mode.

Price: The iPad Air 2 will go on sale at £310, £373 and £435, ranging from 16 to 128G in storage.

iPad Mini

Not as much to report here: the mini 3 has the same design and processor as its previous incarnation – the only thing you really need to know is that, like the Air 2, it comes with Touch ID.

Price: The mini 3 will go on sale at £248, £310 and £454, depending on storage capability.

iMac

This year is the 30th anniversary of the Mac desktop, so Apple has chosen to celebrate by revamping its all-in-one desktop, the iMac.

For the first time, Retina 5K display has been added to the product, a resolution Apple says is the highest in the world.

The iMac’s impressive new 27-inch screen boasts more than 14 million pixels – that’s 7 times more than a HD TV.

And despite all the new add-ons, the iMac remains small – only 5mm at its thinnest.

Price: the iMac’s basic model will go on sale at £1,555.

‘Magical device’

"iPad is a magical device. It has advanced technology jam-packed inside it,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. "iPad is everywhere. It's transforming the way we work, we play, the way we communicate."
