1.    Save the plug-in

Generation 5 devices (405, 605wifi, 705wifi, TV+) + ARCHOS 5 and 7
Save the plug-in file (type ".aos") to a convenient place on your PC, such as the desktop.

Generation 4 devices (404, 404cam, 504, 604, 604wifi, 704wifi, 704TV)
Save the attached zipped file (type ".zip") to a convenient place on your PC, such as the desktop, and un-zip it. This will give you a folder with the plug-in inside of it. Keep this folder and plug-in just in case you need to re-install it at a later date. If you bought more than one plug-in, you will have to install one after the other, not both at the same time.

2.    Connect your ARCHOS device to your computer

Depending on how your device is set, and your computers’ operating system, the ARCHOS will show up on your computer as a ‘Window’s Device’ (ARCHOS screen displays, “Windows Media Device”) or as an external Hard Drive (ARCHOS screen displays, “PC Hard Drive”).

3.    Copy the plug-in/game file to your ARCHOS

Windows Device Mode (default mode)
Right-click on the ".aos" or “.aas” file you downloaded and select Copy With Windows Explorer, double-click on the ARCHOS device and you will see either ‘Internal hard drive’ or two folders ‘Data’ and ‘Media’. Open ‘Internal hard drive’ (or ‘Data’ if you saw only two folders ‘data’ and ‘media’), and paste the ".aos" or “.aas” file immediately there. DO NOT paste it into any of other folders! This is known as the root level of your ARCHOS.

Hard Drive Mode
Right-click on the ".aos" or “.aas” file you downloaded and select Copy. With Windows Explorer, double-click on the ARCHOS device and you will see all the folders in your ARCHOS. Right-click in this area (but not on a folder!) and select paste to copy the “.aos” or “.aas” file into your ARCHOS. This is known as the root level of your ARCHOS.

4.    Unplug your ARCHOS from your Computer

In Windows Device Mode, simply unplug the USB cable. In Hard Drive Mode, select ‘safely’ remove green arrow icon next to the clock in the Windows tray (or select ‘eject’ on a Macintosh), then unplug the USB cable.

5.    Activate the plug-in

Once unplugged, your ARCHOS will recognize the plug-in if it was copied to the root of your ARCHOS device. The ARCHOS will ask you to re-plug in the USB cable to power the device during the update. Now tap on the button, ‘Install’. A progress bar will show the plug-in being installed.

NOTE: If the ARCHOS did not recognize the plug-in/game to install, you can use the file browser on your ARCHOS to go to the file and install it by clicking on it.
