Warning: Beware of possible fake Hitachi magic wand massager offers on eBay. Know how to differentiate fake from authentic models.

Research presented on different  websites (search Hitachi, magic wand, fake) shows that fake wands have following characteristics:  operate on 240v only, come equipped with UK plug (authentic ones have 110-220 and need adapter); have a removable foam cap (authentic one has one piece solid, heavy head); come without one year guarantee (unlike authentic ones); do not have black label on base of handle next to cord connection.  I bought one such fake, not possible to see features from the partial photo on e-bay, only became evident on opening the box. The accompanying instructions must be from genuine product, as they  describe off switch as being in middle, whereas in imitation product, which I had received, this is to the right. Some online articles suggest there is only one authorised global source for purchase and export from USA. Also, fakes often offered for more than the cost of an authentic Hitachi. Do your research first,  to avoid disappointment.
