Ok, you need a car, where to look? local dealers, ad mags? private adds? yeah, difficult is'nt it, we all know about warranties when you buy from a dealer, also the high price you may pay, how about a private sale then, hmm, yes, but no comeback if its a dog, so how about an auction? most small dealers get their stock from auctions wether they may be main dealer pat exe's or private dodgy "get rid ofs" could be a bargain , or, what about EBAY. Here we have houndreds of vehicles some private sellers, some dealers and some dealers pretending to be private sellers. I just bought such a car. A fiat marea weekend diesel. pictures looked ok from every angle and the description was glowing,- written in a style to suggest it was being sold by a private seller. the car would suit my needs so I bid and won (been ebaying quite a while now) arranged to pick up the car and pay cash on collection (for some reason, most vehicle sellers prefer cash! wonder why?) anyway car looked ok in the dark (nightime pick-up) seller (lottocar3333) started the car in a not very confident manner, but it ran ok and it seemed ok so we went inside to conclude the deal. firstly sellers name not in the v5c but there was snowpake where a name had been!! and I was given the new keeper supplement, handed over the cash £1190. and took posession of the car. Of we went home, car drove ok but was smokey on acceleration and as it warmed up bit went well, called at a garage to top up fuel and went home (60miles away) no prob. next day have a look around in daylight, and , yes, it looked pretty good, except, radio wont work can't set clock or tune it in. damm.next up is an odour in the car which was supposed to have been valeted on a thorough examination, find dog hairs down the back seats. some valet! ok. next odour is raw diesel smell and leaking from somewhere under the bonnet, have not found it yet but I will, cos its only doing 25 to the gallon, oh and there a bleb on the sidewall of the tyres which were described as new eh! what new tyres!. well I could go on but I won't, truth is, the car is not at all bad, just has some faults which were not described, biggest laugh of all was me giving a posative feedback rating with a comment about the description and getting a negative feedback as well as some foulmouth emails back!!!!! stiil who can trust a second hand car dealer werever he sell from wether a yard, a garage or his fathers house come on lottocar3333 you can do better than that
MORALE IS, DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING. EXPECT THE WORST,AND NEVER OVERBID ON SOMETHINGS TRUE VALUE UNLESS YOU REALLY REALLY WANT IT.
