Brass Vintage Fire Extinguishers - dangers to health

Brass fire extinguishers of the hand pump type which used to be fitted to vehicles in the 30's to 50's used to contain a highly toxic and cancer causing chemical (carbon tetrachloride). This chemical has been banned from sale for many years now and any item containing it may not be resold. Such an item may not be sent through the post as a specialist courier licensed to carry hazardous chemicals would be required. It is also illegal to dispose of this chemical by means other than a licensed disposal company. Therefore it is illegal for anyone to offer a full vintage extinguisher of this type for sale on Ebay.
