How do you choose the skirt or trousers to suit your body type?

There are a wide range of skirts out there ... Tulip, A-line, Pencil, Mini, Wrap, Maxi and Ra-ra. They all look great on differing body shapes but which suits you?

Trousers come in a variety of fits and styles including skinny, pencil, flare leg, wide leg, pleated, non pleated .. in a range of fabrics from linen and cotton to more luxurious silks ... which will suit you?

Skirts & Trousers For The Hourglass Figure

As you know by now you have been blessed with the easiest body shape to dress. Nothing needs to be hidden or enhanced since your shape is already proportional and you can just about pull off any skirt or trouser style. We only have the following tips for you:

  • Bust & hips nearly the same size
  • Well defined waist 9" or more smaller than the bust
  • Full bust
  • Shapely Legs

Advice For Best Length, Shape & Fit

Wear 3/4 length or longer skirts with a slit if you want to appear taller

Pencil skirts, fitted jackets and strapless dresses all suit those with an hourglass figure

Skirts & Trousers For The Apple Shape Figure

  • Larger Bust
  • Lesser Defined Waist
  • Narrower Hips
  • Broader Shoulders

Advice For Best Length, Shape & Fit

Stay away from bottoms that are too tight or trousers & skirts that are perfectly straight because these will make you look bigger on top. Try boot - cut and flared legs for pants and A Line skirts to make you look leaner

Wear shorter skirts to draw the eye towards your wonderful hips and thighs. Shorter is approximately 1 to 5 inches above the knee and and A-Line skirt could give an hourglass shape.

Avoid clingy material like lycra as they will only define those extra bumps along the hips and thighs we like to hide! Also remember that a pair of heels not only make you feel taller but add a few inches to your legs while making your bottom and hips look smaller!
