Box

[Real box top fake below]
Real box top fake below Fake Marc Jacob DaisyFirstly I want to explain why I am writing this guide. My partner collects perfume from Marc Jacob and I decided to add to her collection. Price seemed to be quite low but it was an auction that I expected to go fairly high, I put in a cheeky bid, you never know. Next thing I knew I had won!! Paid for it thinking I got a real bargain.

On receiving the product, straight away saw it was a fake.

more research and checking against my partners collection of Marc Jacobs perfume I thought I would write a guide so you don't get caught the way I did. Some examples below......

1- box---- inside of the box should be a glitter type texture, on the fake it's just gold colour
  • Black insert should have diagonal lines in the card, fake has horizontal
  • insert should have lugs to fit the perfume in to stop in moving in the box, fake hasn't
  • Real box is immaculate, fake is quite tatty
  • Look closely at the Daisy's on the box, the gold middles are centred on the real box and off centre on the fake see picture below. (Real top, fake bottom)

Bottle and top

  • seam of glass where the bottle is moulded should be barley visible, fake you can actually feel the join
  • Text has been known to scratch off easily on the fake.
  • label on the bottom straight on real, crooked on fake.
  • There could be a mis spelling on the bottom label.
  • On mine it has made in France on the box and made in UK on label
  • the Daisy on the lid looks tatty on the fake
  • cellophane wrapping is neat on genuine but feels cheap on a fake.
  • Lid is poorly made on the fake, please see image below. Original had lugs inside the lid and fake doesn't. (Real top, fake bottom)

Sum up

Apart from all of the above it actually doesn't even smell nice. Lesson learnt, if it is too good to be true then it probably isn't.
The worrying thing is that I really think to someone that doesn't know this info that this could have seemed  legit. Not saying don't buy from EBay but please be extra cautious and check your purchase very carefully.

P.S- scan the barcode. One I received today scanned as shampoo!!!!!!
