Looking for a discontinued fragrance?

Tips on finding your old time favourite fragrance :)

When you are searching for a fragrance which has been discontinued - type in discontinued perfumes or discontinued fragrances on google and you will be surprised the amount of websites that come up - they are still out there you just need to search :)

The advice i would recommend is when going on to these sites that offer these fragrances is if you don't see the fragrance you have been looking for advertised on there website - contact the company - you will find that alot of these companies will source these type of products for you.

From experience regarding vintage fragrances - the number one question people ask is has the perfume been used?
Because a fragrance is not to the top doesn't mean it has been used. It may have evaporated by not being stored in the correct conditions or of course through age - there are all reasons this could be. Alot of Fragrances , especially older fragrances are not filled to the top , a clear example is GUCCI RUSH for men - a classic fragrance from gucci and of course very popular - it has a certain volume percentage on the back of the box which shows the fragrance came and comes like this and is of course new - so don't think when buying an older fragrance that if it is not full to the top it  is used this is not the case.

What is the batch code on the box of the fragrance?

A popular question by many buyers - to ensure the item is authentic. A good question but what does it prove it only proves how old the fragrance is - and of course it tells you the fragrance has expired - well yes that is correct as the fragrance may be 4 or 5 years old or even 20 years old it will of course say expired.

As long as the fragrances have been stored under the correct conditions there shouldnt be a problem - always check the sellers feedback as well

You often find on ebay with many fragrance sellers that buyers will write fake items on the sellers ratings this is not always the case - if a fragrance does not smell as it should doesn't mean the item is fake - it could be off? All the fragrances we sell are 100 % authentic and are of course stored under the correct conditions...on a million to 1 rare occurence if we ever have anyone say to us this perfume does not smell right we offer a money back guarantee.

What  conditions should older fragrances be stored under?

If you have a favorite fragrance and you wish for it to last longer and stay as strong as it is now, you must store it properly. It's also a good way to get the most out of your higher-priced fragrances.

Start by making sure the lid is secure after every use. This not only prevents spilling but also keeps the fragrance from evaporating and losing its scent.

Find a location that is not near heat or cold. Drastic changes in the temperature of a fragrance can upset the balance of its ingredients and change its scent--including bad changes such as spoiling.

Avoid direct exposure to air, which can alter or upset the chemistry of the fragrance over time. This is one reason that fragrances that must be open to apply (those that must be splashed on) aren't as good as their spray counterparts. If you have a fragrance that you love and it must be splashed on, you may want to consider removing some of it into a smaller decanter. Then you could place an atomizer on it if you use it regularly. An atomizer can make applying easier, too.

Clean any bottle stopper you use. If you use a fragrance that comes with an application tool  you should clean this tool each time you use it. This will help keep any impurities out of your fragrance. You can use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe it. Then place the stopper back into the bottle, making sure it is securely closed.

And of course find a dark location such as a drawer, a dark closet or a medicine cabinet (the latter as long as the room doesn't frequently become hot from baths and showers). Fragrances should not be in the light all the time, especially direct light. Light can also change the balance of the chemicals that make up the fragrance. If you want to leave the fragrance out in the open so that you remember to wear it, remember to keep it away from windows and light. Store it in the darkest room possible.

EXPENSE

You will also find that older vintage fragrances are alot more expensive than modern fragrances keep this in mind.

Another factor to think about when buying older perfumes is alot of sellers on ebay list there fragrances including ourselves as ORIGINAL formula - this is because the fragrance may have been brought back out again - a good example of this is paco rabanne xs pour elle for ladies there are so many versions of this fragrance - we have had both the 1994 and 1996 versions - always ask the seller which version the fragrance is so you are sure it's the correct one you are buying. A knowledgeable ebayer who knows about fragrances will know the exact year of manufacture of the fragrance you are purchasing.

Happy shopping x
