The purpose of this guide is to assist buyers when thinking of purchasing printer ink cartridges.
Before buying any ink cartridges, there are a few points to consider. If you have just brought a brand new printer which normally comes with a guarantee, if you buy compatible ink cartridges rather than genuine cartridges and a problem arises before the guarantee expires, you will risk not being able to claim against the guarantee as most of them state that it will be rendered null and void if any cartridge other than a genuine one is used. I say this from experience!
Also, before buying ink cartridges on eBay, consider the possibility that they may just be cheaper to buy brand new from other online sources. Many online retail sites selling ink cartridges offer free postage on purchases. For example, if you wish to buy both a black and colour cartridge for a Canon Pixma IP1600, these can be purchased brand new (with a guarantee on faulty products) from an ink factory for just £26.99 the pair INCLUDING postage (this quote is for genuine Canon cartridges, not 'compatible' cartridges).
