Buying from Hong Kong/China

I've read several comments on ebay about buying from these places, usually discouraging buyers from doing so. I prefer to buy from there, & here's why : I live in South Africa, so am used to waiting along time for stuff to arrive. But some UK sellers only send my items a week after the auction is over, when I've paid immediately. I always check the postage stamps on all the items I receive to see how quickly it was dispatched. Then Royal Mail seems to take it's time, & a month later, my item arrives.. This is not true for all UK sellers - I have some under my favourites list that send the very next day & I receive the package within 2 weeks. Hong Kong sellers post within 2 days, always send me an email to confirm that it has been posted & I receive the package in under 2 weeks. People have mentioned the high postage costs - true, but the item price itself is much lower, so the overall cost works out cheaper in most cases. I buy from all over, basically whoever says they will post to SA & works out the cheapest, but I also like to know I don't have to wait a month for everything to arrive. Obviously if you live in the UK, a UK seller will get things to you faster, but for those of us further away, at least try to send the items within a few days..
