HI, I HAVE BEEN KEEPING AND BREEDING FISH AND CORALS FOR THIRTY YEARS NOW.  I WAS WORKING AS A BUILDER ON A BUILDING SITE WHEN I CUT THROUGH THE TENDANS OF MY INDEXT FINGER. I LOST MOST OF THE FEALING IN IT AND CLAIMED FOR COMPENSATION. I ONLY GOT 4 THOUSAND POUND BUT PUT IT IN THE BANK AND THOUGHT I WOULD SAVE IT FOR A RAINY DAY (ANY DAY OF THE YEAR JUST ABOUT). AFTER A FEW DOZEN TRIPS TO LOCAL AQUATICS CENTRES LOOKING AT FISH AND LISTENING IN TO WHAT STAFF WERE TELLING CUSTOMERS (FILLING THERE HEADS WITH RUBBISH, JUST TO SELL SELL SELL),  I DECIDED I WAS GOING TO OPEN A SMALL SHOP AND SELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY NEED AND NOT WHAT MADE ME LOADS OF MONEY (WHAT WOULD I NEED LOADS OF MONEY FOR? I WOULD ONLY BUY MORE FISH) LOL.  I HAVE BRED LOADS OF DIFFERENT MARINE FISH; SHRIMPS;INVERTS, AND ALSO I HAVE FRAGED AND GROWN LOADS OF DIFFERENT CORALS (HARD AND SOFT). I HAVE FOUND YOU DON'T NEED UV STERORLIZERS, METAL HALIDES, PROTIENE SKIMMERS OR CORAL ADDERTIVES (ALTHOUGH THEY MAY BE GOOD) TO KEEP AND BREED OR GROW MARINE FISH AND CORALS. I HAVE BRED AND GROWN ALL KINDS OF CLOWNS, DAMSELS, GOBBIES, ANGELS AND WRASS IN TANKS WITH JUST A SPONGE FILTER. AS LONG AS YOU GET A GOOD QUALITY SALT (I USE REEF CRYSTALS AND RED SEA CORAL PRO), AND YOU DO YOUR WATER CHANGES AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. THE ONLY OTHER ADVICE I WOULD GIVE YOU IS USE A GOOD QUALITY FOOD,  BUT DO NOT OVER FEED YOUR FISH (LITTLE AND OFTEN IS THE KEY). IF YOU FEED YOUR FISH ONCE A DAY, THEY WILL FILL THERE FACE AND TICK OVER. IF YOU FEED THEM THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY THEY WILL BE FIGHTING FIT BREEDING MACHINES. THIS IS THE MAIN KEY TO GETTING THEM TO BREED. WHEN THEY ARE BREEDING, KEEP YOUR NOSE AWAY FROM THE GLASS AS THIS WILL STRESS THEM OUT AND PUT GREESE MARKS ON YOUR GLASS. (YOU WOULD NOT LIKE IT IF YOU WERE ON THE NEST AND SOME GIANT HAD THERE FACE PUSHED AGAINST YOUR BEDROOM WINDOW).  I F YOU WOULD LIKE ANY INFO ABOUT KEEPING BREEDING MARINE LIFE, THEN DON'T HESERTATE TO ASK. I WILL TELL YOU THE WAY THAT HAS WORKED FOR ME, WITHOUT TRYING TO SELL YOU THINGS. THANK YOU FOR READING MY GUIDE, COLIN CARE OF MATLOCK AQUATICS.
