A few years ago I had my ebay and paypal accounts taken over. Looking back I was very silly so this is a quick guide on how not to have your account hacked.

Emails telling you to "click on to the above link and log in as your account will be suspended if you dont". If you get any emails asking you to log into a link either ignore them and log into ebay by your usual means, or forward the email to spoofs at ebay via the help button at the top of the page and they will let you know if the email was sent from ebay or not.I have had hundreds of these and all have been fake.

Passwords. When I had my account taken over, I had a easy to remember password. Easy for me to remember and easy for someone else to work out. For example if your user name is nufc, its not going to take a genius to work out that your password is shearer ! Pick a load of random letters and numbers (at least 8), if they mean nothing to you then its hard for someone else to work it out.If need be write it down and keep it in your purse/wallet until you remember it.Also I has the same password for about 2 years !

Change your password every 6 months minimum

So please remember

1. Never log in from a link

2. Contact ebay if unsure

3. Keep your password unique

4. Change your password regularly.

5. Always be on guard for new fraudsters.
