Cancelling an international order as a seller

Introduction

With recent changes to Ebay in late 2014 and with the introduction of the "Cancel Order" facility, I have come across a problem with some international sales!
The Cancel order facility on Ebay UK can be used for orders from other sites that also have the Cancel order facility (USA, Canada, Australia).
However many sites don't yet have the Cancel order facility - and I have been directed to use the Resolution Centre of the site from which the order was made. However I would have to navigate this myself, in Spanish, Italian, or whatever, to make my cancellation!
Example : "This order was purchased on ebay.it, so you need to go to that site to cancel the order."
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS!
You can still use Ebay UK, but you need to go to the Resolution Centre to do the cancellation.

Sites that have the new "Cancel order" facility

These include Ebay USA, Canada and Australia. You can cancel orders from customers in these countries using "cancel order" from Ebay UK.
  • Start from your Selling Manager / Pro sold items page, or the basic sold items page.
  • Find the order in the list, and use the dropdown to the right to find "Cancel order", available up to 30 days after the order.
  • Proceed as directed.
If the order was paid, the refund is made as part of this flow, and the final value fee should then be credited back to you.
If the order was not paid, the buyer will need to confirm the cancellation, or after 10 days you will be able to claim your final value fee manually through the Resolution Centre.

Sites that do not yet have the "Cancel order" facility

If directed to use the Resolution Centre of the site from which the order was made, e.g. "This order was purchased on ebay.it, so you need to go to that site to cancel the order."
You CAN use the Ebay UK Resolution Centre. Have the item number, buyer ID and Paypal transaction reference (if any) handy.
If the order was paid, refund the buyer separately before starting the cancellation.
The Resolution Centre link on Ebay UK is currently at the bottom of most pages including the Help page and the My Ebay page.
  • Select "The buyer and I agree to cancel a transaction": the second option in the second column. Continue with the button. Log in if requested.
  • Insert item number on the next page, then click the button to continue.
  • Select the transaction to cancel, then click the button to continue.
  • Select the reason from the list (to keep it simple, choose the last one - Other), then click the button to continue.
  • The confirmation will state the number of days the buyer has to confirm the cancellation.
  • After this time if the buyer has not confirmed, you will need to reclaim your final value fee manually from the Resolution Centre.
Note : If you find yourself in the Resolution Centre of another Ebay site, the layout and flow is the same, if you do decide to do it there!
