Caring for your handcrafted jewellery

Like if this guide is helpful

As a designer and making of handcrafted sterling silver jewellery I am often asked "what is the best way to look after" such pieces. I hope the short guide below is helpful.

As a rule of thumb, handcrafted wire and beaded jewellery is usually more fragile than mass produced factory pieces but it is easy to care for if you take note of the following.

It is useful to remember that Sterling silver is a metal that is meant to be worn and, if left unprotected, it will eventually tarnish. A good way to prevent this from happening is to store your handcrafted jewellery in a cloth pouche or a plastic jewellery bag (one with a locking seal).

If your jewellery does become tarnished you should use a silver polishing cloth to clean it - gently rub your jewellery againt the cloth - being careful not to pull as this is likely to twist your jewellery out of shape or break it.

Following the simple guidelines above will ensure that your handcrafted jewellery gives you years of servicve and remains in good condition.
