Some may belittle the Christmas jumper. Forgoing its one drawback – you can’t get away with wearing one for 11 months of the year - a winter woolly is fashionable, fun - and keeps you cosy-cosy when it gets chilly.

What's it all about?

Christmas Jumper Day is an annual fundraising campaign organised by Save the Children.

Offices, schools and, well, just about everyone is invited to don a Christmas jumper on Friday December 12th and donate a few bob to the charity to support the all the good work it does around the globe, so get shopping!

The aim is simple: to make the world better with a sweater. All you need to do is wear a woolly, donate and spread the jumper joy among your family and friends. Don’t worry, you can choose what jumper you wear...

How can I get involved?

Once you’ve signed up – you can do that here – you’ll be sent a fundraising kit jam-packed with ideas.

If you’re a teacher, sign up your school and join in the fun. The kids will love it.

You’ll get a free Teacher’s Kit with jumper-customising and classroom-decorating templates, so you can get creative in lessons!

Or perhaps you’re an office worker. If so, get your colleagues on board and enter a team on the Woolly Wonderboard. Here you can keep track of how much you’ve raised and compete against other offices.

But you don’t need to work in an office to enter a team. Round up your family and friends and create a team of your own. It really is that simple. The big decision comes when picking out what Christmas jumper to wear!

Novelty jumpers

The more flamboyant, the better when it comes to Christmas jumpers. You can get away with wearing anything you like, so make the most of this rare opportunity and pick out something eye-catching.

Snowman jumpers, Rudolph jumpers, Santa jumpers, even Elf jumpers – you name it, they’re all out there!

Better still; you can get jumpers that play your favourite festive tunes, jumpers that have colourful flashing lights and jumpers that have baubles hanging off them, helping you stand out from the crowd.

Novelty jumpers come in all shapes and sizes, for men and women, plus there are even fun knits for little ones!

Sophisticated yet fun jumpers

But what if you’re not brave enough to wear a novelty jumper? Don’t worry; there are plenty of sophisticated yet fun Christmas jumpers out there to choose from, you just need to know where to look.

Snowflake jumpers are particularly popular, especially for men's Christmas jumpers, as are Nordic jumpers. Both boast subtle patterns and colours that are festive yet not too glitzy and showy – perfect if you want to blend in rather than stand out.
Fairisle jumpers are also seen regularly out and about at this time of year.

But remember, it doesn’t matter what jumper you go for, it’s the taking part and fundraising that counts!
