Comic Singers

Like if this guide is helpful

There are two type of comic song-songs sung by comedians or comic actors (which surely would include the 60s group the Monkees) and genuinely funny songs. I am concentrating on the latter.

Funny songs may be nonsense, may be spoofs and may be something else. It is difficult to mention nonsense songs without the Goons, but other nonsense songs can be found by John Shuttleworth (also known as John Hegley) and Marty Feldman. The Bonzo Dog Do Dah Band (named after the Bonzo dog and featuring Neil Innes) also are nonsensical.

Famous spoofs include the Rutles and Barron Knights-Rutles spoofed Beatles and Barron Knights spoofed 70s bands. The Heebeegeebees spoofed the Beegees but they didn't realise a record.

Other famous comic song singers include Victoria Wood, Rolf Harris and Jasper Carrott (famous for his funky moped). Speaking of funky, the Funky Gibbon was created by the Goodies, and they also had other songs.
