Most comic strip characters are turned into books-if only very small paperbacks. Here are some characters and their creators.

Peanuts (Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder, Peppermint Paddy, Snoopy {beagle} and Woodstock {yellow bird). Created by Charles Schultz. First appeared in eight different US papers.

Perishers (Wellington and Boot {Old English Shepdog or Dulux Dog}, Maisie, Marlon, Baby Grumpling, B.H {Calcutta} failed {bloodhound-named after a title people who failed degrees at the Calcutta University used presumably} Tatty Oldbit {female dog}, the Crabs of the Pooliverse), Created by Maurice Dodd. First appeared in the Mirror.

Asterix (Asterix, Obelix, Dogmatix {dog}, Getafix or Panoramix (the latter is French), Cacofonix, Vitalstatistix) Created by Goscinny and Underzo. First appeared in Pilot.

Andy Capp (Andy and Flo Capp, Chalkie and Ruby, Rent Collector, Barman and Vicar) First appeared in the Mirror.

Garfield (Garfield {cat}, Jon Arbuckle, Odie {dog}) Created by Jon Davis. First appeared in 41 newspapers.

Fred Basset (Fred {Basset Hound}, Jock {Scottie}, Yorky {Yorkshire Terrier}, Fifi {Poodle} and his two owners, unnamed) Created by Alex Graham. First appeared in the Daily Mail.

Popeye (Olive Oyl-appeared first, Popeye the Sailor, The Sea Hag, J. Wellington Wimpy, Sweet Pea, Bluto (alternatively called Brutus), Pappy, The Goons). First appeared in a number of newspapers. Created by Elzie Chrisler Segar.
